Paul Thorn is a passionate writer and author celebrated for his impactful work in raising awareness about HIV and tuberculosis (TB). With a captivating narrative style and a deep commitment to social justice, he advocates for individuals affected by these diseases, transforming his own experiences into compelling stories that inspire change.
His journey began in the late 1980s when he encountered the realities of living with HIV. Rather than succumbing to defeat, Paul channelled his struggles into activism, advocating for better healthcare access, education, and understanding of both HIV and TB. A prominent figure in the fight against the HIV travel ban in the United States, Paul has worked tirelessly to challenge the stigma and discrimination that accompanied this legislation, enacted in the late 1980s, which barred individuals living with HIV/AIDS from entering the country. In 2014, he was a finalist for the Stonewall Journalist of the Year award and has a passion for live radio and podcasting.
In recovery from addiction, Paul is now living sober. His writing vividly portrays the challenges and triumphs of those within the community, offering a raw perspective that resonates with many readers. Currently, he is working on a candid memoir that delves into his own relationship with HIV and TB, his experiences in the global health arena, and his newfound freedom and happiness in sobriety. He is currently studying for a career in Counselling.
